Grab your bank or card statement and search for repeating charges. Then run each one through this:
Cancel one thing today, right now, before you close this tab. Then set a 6-month calendar reminder to do this again. Most people find $20–60/month on the first pass — that's a free emergency fund by year end.
- The re-subscribe test: "If this were cancelled today, would I actively sign up again?" If the answer is a shrug, cancel it. You can always rejoin.
- The duplicate hunt: two music services? A streaming service you haven't opened in a month? Cloud storage you forgot about? Duplicates are the easiest money you'll ever find.
- The annual trap: check annual renewals too — that $99/year charge hurts more than the $9.99/month one. Put renewal dates on your calendar a week early.
- The free-trial ghost: trials that converted silently. If you didn't mean to keep it, that's not a subscription, that's a leak.
